New Crossing Roadworks

road-work-1148205_1920

We are pleased that Hampshire County Council have started work to create a new crossing outside school.  This crossing is being upgraded to a Parallel Crossing (pedestrians and cyclists) for the safety of our students and to reduce congestion on the roads.  The scope of work also includes widening the pavement, resurfacing the road, introducing new advisory 20mph school signs featuring flashing amber lights. A new footpath with direct access to the leisure centre car park will be part of the specification and overall delivery.

Planning for this work includes ensuring minimal disruption to road users in the area, so temporary lights will be operational from 9am until 3pm each day. We would suggest that you make alternative arrangements for the drop-off and collection of your child to avoid the inevitable traffic.  This work is scheduled to take seven weeks, including one week of the half term break.

This project has been consulted on widely which helped improve the scheme and has been funded with developer contributions.

Please note that the works are weather dependent and may need to be rearranged at short notice in the event of adverse weather. These works may disrupt travel plans so please allow extra journey time; the contractor is dedicated to completing the work swiftly to minimise any inconvenience. They are responsible for diversion routes, signage, lights and all traffic management.

Further information about the scheme, further updates about the planned timescales, traffic management arrangements and more will be available on the scheme webpage.

Thank you in advance for your support during this work.
