Y7 & Y8 Reading Project - February 2017

These pictures and film were taken to show the Year 7 and 8 Reading Project in action.  The year 10s are listening to and reading alongside the Year 7s and 8s – hence the lovely ‘buzz’ in the room!

They are reading an as yet unpublished novel, then reviewing it, feeding back their comments to the publisher prior to printing.  It is the regular focus on reading which has a real impact.  The first group of Year 7 students who were involved in the project last term improved their reading ages, making from between 1 to 3 years in progress. 

I cannot emphasise strongly enough how important reading is for everyone.  Perhaps put a twist on Lent this year: decide to give up some time to read every day!
