INSET Day - December 21
We kickstarted December on a high with our staff INSET day! These days are crucial to ensure we as staff remain up to date with advances in education, receive appropriately challenging training and plan as effectively as possible to ensure our remarkable students get the best possible outcomes, both academic and social.
On 1 December we continued our training journey to become a Coaching School where staff engage regularly in teaching and learning conversations, consider how to embed new ideas into our planning and teaching, and to challenge one another to think strategically, openly, and with student outcomes in mind. This was followed by workshops for our teachers, delivered by the wonderful Inclusion Department. These provided staff with the necessary tools to cater even more effectively for students with additional needs. These ideas were subsequently shared in departments and we will return to these strategies throughout the year to ensure they have the desired impact. Non-teaching staff engaged with a plethora of workshops ranging from LBGTQIA+ awareness to supporting students with grief. And in true CPS tradition, the day ended with well-being workshops for staff who quite literally put themselves in the students' shoes and learned a new skill! It's fantastic being the learner again as it certainly makes us empathise more with what we expect of our students. A great INSET and thanks to all those staff who provided training throughout the day.
