ESU National Public Speaking Competition - February 2023

Three of our students, Josh N (Chairperson), Alistair W (Speaker) and Zander S (Questioner), represented the school in the District Final at Guildford Cathedral on the evening of Wednesday 8 February, having progressed through the previous round in November. They did themselves and the school great credit, despite a late finish at 10pm.

There were eight schools taking part, seven private/independent schools, with Calthorpe being the only state school:

3. St Peter's, Guildford - Team A
4. Calthorpe Park, Fleet - Team B
5. St Catherine's, Bramley - Team A
6. Priors Field
7. Farnborough Hill
8. Farnborough Hill

We're very pleased that the two teams who won the District Final were Calthorpe Park and St Catherine's! Joshua N also won a special prize for best Chair.

We will now progress to the Regional final at Churcher’s College, Petersfield on Monday 20 March. The winners of this round will proceed on to Cambridge University for the National Grand Final in April.
