Year 11 Art & Photography trip to London Galleries - January 2023
Our Year 11 Art and Photography students had a very successful trip to some London Art Galleries as part of their Exam preparation. The Art group had a visit to the Tate Modern, taking in each floor with a visit to the Maria Bartuszova exhibition. A fabulous boat ride on the Thames took them to the Tate Britain where students could choose what to see. The Photography group had a great visit to 'The Photographers' Gallery' taking in a range of contemporary photography then using the Uber boat to visit The Tate Modern. All students were able to gather a range of photos and information to enhance their exam work. A very successful day for all involved with fantastic behaviour from our students.
From a photography student:
As a Photography student present on the recent Art/Photography trip, I personally found it very engaging and worthwhile. We visited multiple art galleries and exclusive installations (such as the Photographers Gallery and the Yayoi Kusama Mirror Rooms), and had the opportunity for extra marks for those attending. Aside from the numerous travelling breaks we had to take as a group (including a trip down the Thames on an Uber boat!), in which we ate and took the time to watch London pass us by, the trip was fairly independent - every student was taking pictures and making notes for their individual projects rather than being herded about by teachers. If you discount the occasional technical blip outside the facilities control, this was time well spent out of school. For any younger years reading and considering their options, I say go for it!
