Sports Day - July 23
Our first Sports Day in our 6 new Houses, took place on Tuesday 4th July 2023 and what a fantastic and fun day it turned out to be. The weather was wet in the afternoon but we still managed to continue with the Relay Competition and there was lots of support and participation from many students. The inclusion once again, of the popular Multi Games element of our Sports Day Programme, made the day very successful and inclusive and was enjoyed by students and staff alike, especially our Yr7 & 8 students.
The competition was very close going into the Relay Finals in the afternoon, as a result of the excellent levels of participation from all four of our Houses in the Multi Games. Students also secured points for their House from their participation in PE lessons when they recorded results for Athletic Events (2 points per event) and those students who represented the school in our Athletics Team also secured points (10 per event).
The afternoon’s proceedings were opened by Mr Walker and our brilliant Samba Band and there was a flurry of excitement and activity, as all Houses worked to ensure they entered the maximum number of relay teams in each year group. Every team tried their very best to win, supported loudly and enthusiastically by all six Houses.
It was truly fantastic to see everyone working together, to celebrate together as a whole school and to hear the cheers and roars of enjoyment from the crowd, as they encouraged their runners throughout the whole afternoon. We finished the day with a hotly contested and extremely competitive staff relay race, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
