Y10 French & Art Trip to Paris - February 2015
At 7.30 a.m. on 10th February, 38 Year 10 French students and 4 teachers boarded the coach that would take us to Paris on our four days in the French capital.
After taking the Shuttle to Calais we drove for two hours in order to reach our first destination la Chocolaterie de Lachelle. Set in a small village in the picturesque countryside of Oise (about 70 km north of Paris), this chocolate factory was much smaller - and prettier - than we had expected. We were given a really interesting tour in which we learnt lots about the process of chocolate production - from the harvesting of the cocoa bean to the blending of the finished product... and of course we got to try some for ourselves!
After visiting the shop and stocking up on their delicious chocolates, we were back on the coach and on our way to our Chateau de Grande Romaine on the outskirts of Paris. At night, after our dinner, we enjoyed making Crepes while doing a French quiz.
The next morning we got up at seven o’clock and, after breakfast, made our way to the Louvre, Sacre Coeur and Montmartre, one of the most visited building in Paris, something which didn’t surprise us at all as it was absolutely breath-taking.
After visiting this beautiful white-domed church and watching the amazing street performers outside, we visited the Eiffel Tower - still standing after 121 years at 324 metres. We took the stairs instead of the lift as a challenge - which gave us beautiful views of the city below. Once there, we could see all of Paris below us, and obviously took lots of photos of the amazing scenery.
At night, after dinner, we went bowling, where our students enjoyed their time competing with each other, and on our last day we travelled to Centre Pompidou - a beautiful Modern Art Museum.
We really loved the four days we spent in Paris practising our French and experiencing the culture of a different country and would like to thank all of our students for their brilliant behaviour, their patience and, finally, their support of each other.
