DofE Bronze Expedition - July 2016
On the weekend of 9th/10th July, we took 25 Year 10 students to the New Forest to complete their Bronze assessed expedition as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award. They have spent half a year preparing for the expedition and were raring to go after a busy week in school. The groups met with the assessors and they were immediately impressed by the preparation and organisation of the groups. Throughout the weekend the four groups hiked and navigated their way through the Forest, carrying everything they needed on their backs. After a delightful campfire on Saturday evening, the group woke to hours of rain on Sunday morning. The rain soaked the students but could not dampen their spirits. All students successfully completed the expedition, passing with flying colours. It is very pleasing, after all their hard work, to hear the words ‘navigationally exceptional’ and ‘A*’ used by the assessors to praise the young people. A huge congratulations to all involved and a massive thank you for the hard work and dedication of the staff who work to make it run as smoothly as it does.
