York Trip March 2016
On 11th March we embarked on the annual trip to York, with 95 students and 9 members of staff. The four day residential crammed in as much as possible! We left school at 6.45 a.m. on a foggy Friday morning and headed to Sheffield for our first stop, the Magna Science Adventure Centre. Once in York, we made camp at the YHA hostel and a fairly quiet night was had by all. Saturday was a busy day, with us taking in The Railway Museum, The York Castle Museum and shopping in the centre of York. The day finished with a quick dip in an old Victorian swimming pool. Sunday was just as busy, when we took a bus ride along the coast to the Scarborough Sealife Centre, then on to Eden Camp and back to the YHA for some dinner and a quick change, ready for bowling in the evening. Monday came and it was time to start the long journey home! After leaving the YHA we headed to the Treak Cavern for our lunch stop, where the weather and views were spectacular.
“I really enjoyed my trip to York. The journeys were very tiring but the activities were really fun. The best things for me were going swimming and bowling because I got to have fun with my friends. I also enjoyed having a fried breakfast in the mornings. Thank you to all the staff for taking us, especially Miss Bone for all of the planning and organising.” Liam S (S05)
“I had such a great time on the trip, it was such a good experience and a brilliant time to be with my friends. I especially enjoyed seeing my auntie and grandma during free time on Saturday as they live in the area we visited and I haven't seen them in ages. Overall I recommend this trip to anyone who is interested in going as it is so much fun.” Jess B (M03)
